Come Travel a Sentimental Journey

Was there ever such a thing as ‘The Age of Sentiment’? Well, the Allegri Singers’ next concert may go some way towards answering the question.

In re-visiting some of its old favourites, there’s a bit of time travel.

In 20 years of leading Allegri Singers as its musical director, William Moxey has taken the choir on an exhilarating, inspiring, and sometimes daunting journey.

With “Sentimental Journey,” the choir will take audiences from 16th Century love songs and saucy English folk songs, Victorian melodrama, early 20th Century jazz, pop songs of the sixties, (some of you might remember!) to meditative works from contemporary composers.

Although this concert is on the lighter side, the ensemble’s aim is to always let the music take its audience out of the everyday, in an engaging and memorable experience. And don’t under-estimate 20th century pop – remember – Mozart was the pop star of his age! William Moxey has a remarkable ability to select some of the best music from any age or genre, and to put together a program to delight the most discerning listener.

So make a date to take a trip down Memory Lane, and to hear some numbers that may be new to your ears.
